The Delta River is a 130 km long left tributary of the Tanana River in Alaska .

It rises in south-central Alaska from the Tangle Lakes , a group of lakes on the Denali Highway , flows north through the Alaska range into the Interior and flows into the Tanana River at the Big Delta .

The Richardson Highway runs parallel to the Delta River through the Alaska Range and Tanana Valley .

The upper reaches of the Delta River from Tangle Lakes to Black Rapids was designated by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980 as a National Wild and Scenic River under the administration of the Bureau of Land Management .
