National Wild and Scenic River

The Nonvianuk River is an 18 km long left tributary of the Alagnak River in Katmai National Park on the Alaska Peninsula in southwestern Alaska .

It rises from Nonvianuk Lake on the western flank of the Aleutian chain , south of Iliamna Lake , flows westward and flows into the Alagnak River 77 km southwest of Kakhonak .

The name "Nonvianuk" has its origin in the name of the native people for the river.

The Nonvianuk River was designated in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act as a tributary of the Alagnak River along with it as a National Wild and Scenic River .
