The Sheenjek River is a 320 km long right tributary of the Porcupine River in the interior of Alaska .

It rises in the Romanzof Mountains , a mountain range in the Brooks Range , flows south and flows northeast of Fort Yukon into the Porcupine River.

The headwaters and the upper reaches of the Sheenjek are in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge , the estuary in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge .

The 260 km long section of the Sheenjek River in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was designated as a National Wild and Scenic River in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act .
