Cape Leveque is a cape in the north of the Dampier Peninsula in the region of Kimberley , Western Australia .
Cape Leveque is 150 miles from Broome on Cape Leveque Road . It is a remote area, but also because of the sandy beaches it attracts some tourists, most of whom arrive by plane. Cape Leveque can only be reached by four-wheel drive vehicles.
A 13 meter high lighthouse was built on Cape Leveque in 1911. Its lighting characteristics are based on three flashes of light that light up every 15 seconds, reaching a focal plane of 43 m and emitting a light output of 25,000 petroleum lamps. The lighthouse marks the western entrance to King Sound . About 450 meters upstream of the 5.16 is hectares large Leveque Iceland .
