Caprese
Caprese ( Italian for belonging to Capri ) is an Italian starter salad made from tomatoes , mozzarella , basil and olive oil .
For production, raw tomato slices are covered with mozzarella slices and a basil leaf each, salted and drizzled with olive oil. For a traditional Insalata Caprese , cow's milk mozzarella or buffalo mozzarella can be used, a particularly aromatic tomato variety such as San Marzano is preferred ; the olive oil should be cold-pressed.
history
The origin of the court is not clearly established. A popular myth of origin says that a patriotic bricklayer first filled a panino with ingredients whose colors correspond to the tricolor . Another origin is believed to be that the dish goes back to the futuristic cuisine of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti . In his manifesto of the futuristic kitchen in 1931, the latter had called for the abolition of the pastasciutta , which he gave a weight that did not correspond to the futuristic culture. The futuristic kitchen should, among other things, create snacks that produced ten or twenty different taste impressions within a few moments. In this sense, the dish is said to have been on the menu at a dinner hosted by Marinetti in the Grand Hotel Quisisana on Capri .
