Carbonara is a song by the German band Spliff . Text and music come from Reinhold Heil , who also sang the song. The song was released in 1982 on the album 85555 and was also released as a single . The single, which reached number five in the German single charts, was Spliff's commercial breakthrough. The song describes a man who flirts with an Italian and wants to invite her to spaghetti alla carbonara .
Originally the song was called Hot Sausages and 'ne Coca Cola and contained text fragments from an Italian menu, Latin words and excerpts from an Italian travel guide. The current text was not written until the song was produced.
