Carfreitag
Carfreitag is one of the holy day Good Friday and the English word car (car) formed corruption . The term describes a "car day" as a date for meeting the tuner scene .
Well-known meeting points are Pagenstecherstraße in Osnabrück , Vahrenwalder Straße in Hanover-Vahrenwald , Detmolder Straße in Paderborn , the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring and the ICE city of Limburg . The event has been tolerated there since 2013, but canceled in 2015 by the city and police in cooperation with the organizer.
As illegal street races take place again and again at these meetings , there is an increased presence of the police who carry out extensive speed and traffic controls. This is combined with many vehicle controls and evictions to prevent these races.
On March 25, 2005, as part of Carfreitag on Herford Street in Bielefeld, there was an accident that resulted in death: A 25-year-old died, eleven people were injured, some of them life-threatening. A tuned small car, the driver of which was involved in an illegal street race , drove unchecked into a crowd.
Legal situation
Because there is usually no specific organizer of these meetings, but rather a collective is formed, the authorities lack the legal basis for the ban and a legal person who can be held liable in the event of damage.
