The ICE city of Limburg , also known as the ICE area or formerly the ICE railport , is an industrial park in the city of Limburg an der Lahn .

location

The ICE city of Limburg is located between the Limburg core city and the district of Lindenholzhausen on the Eschhöfer Feld and thus within the boundaries of the Limburg district of Eschhofen on the high-speed route Cologne-Rhine / Main .

history

The ICE city of Limburg was created with the construction of the Limburg Süd railway station in 2002. The aim of the city of Limburg was to use the railway station to attract more new companies to the immediate vicinity and thus create a district of its own with national awareness. In the run-up to the construction work, archaeological excavations were carried out in what is now the ICE city, during which significant traces of settlement from the Ice Age and Neolithic were found. The newly laid streets were named after European capitals.

Infrastructure and economy

The ICE city is fully developed, although there are still many vacant building sites to this day. In order to make a settlement interesting for companies of the New Economy , the ICE city received broadband internet access via fiber optic long before the other parts of the city . In addition to the early settlement of fast food restaurants, a gas station and a hotel and the office for land management , only a few companies of no supraregional importance have settled in the ICE city to date (as of February 2014). In 2013, the St. Vincenz Hospital Company opened its new logistics and service center there. The Limburg city car park adjacent to the train station was officially opened in 2011. In 2017, a hydrogen filling station and a fast charging station for electric vehicles from the Dutch provider Fastned were opened. A large bakery and a hardware store are currently being planned.
