The Cargo Service GmbH (CargoServ) is a private Austrian railway company , headquartered in Linz . It is a 100% subsidiary of Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) and thus a company in the voestalpine group. The object of the business is the transport of goods by rail, mostly raw materials for steel production, which CargoServ transports to the voestalpine plant.

history

Cargo Service GmbH was founded together with the parent company LogServ on April 1st, 2001.

In 2010, LogServ employed an average of 800 people (including the CargoServ mainline train drivers). On April 1, 2001, the first CargoServ train drove a train from an Austrian private company over the ÖBB tracks. In the 2011/2012 business year, the company achieved sales of around EUR 35 million.

The vehicle fleet in 2013 included three Siemens ES64U2 , four Siemens ES64U4 and three diesel-hydraulic mainline locomotives ( DR series V 100 ). Since the name "Taurus" is a protected name of the ÖBB , the three Siemens ES64U2s are called "erz.her.zog".

On August 7, 2013, CargoServ ordered a Vectron locomotive from Siemens with a maximum output of 6400 kW and a speed of 160 km / h. The locomotive was put into operation in March 2014.

The parent company LogServ also operates 28 shunting locomotives on the 165 km long track system in the voestalpine steelworks and in the Linz Chemical Park (as of 2013). On August 8, 2013 was Gmeinder locomotives the appointment of two three-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotives of the type D 60 C known.

Transports

The following goods are transported:

  • Lime (from the Steyrling lime works)
  • Coal (from Poland, CargoServ only transports the coal from Summerau)
  • dangerous goods
  • Ore (of iron ore )
  • Car transport
  • Coils (to Poland (CargoServ Transport only to Summerau), Italy)
  • cellulose

In 2015, 4.8 million tons of raw materials and finished products were transported.
