Carl-Detlev Freiherr von Hammerstein , called Charly von Hammerstein , (born January 26, 1938 in Bockel ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and a former member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Carl-Detlev Freiherr von Hammerstein's parents were Frithjof Freiherr von Hammerstein-Gesmold (1902–1977) and his wife Ellinor Böcking (1911–2004). He was born the second of seven children. After completing secondary school , von Hammerstein completed an apprenticeship which he completed in 1961 as a state-certified farmer . In 1966 he passed the agricultural master's examination . Since 1964 he has been working as an independent farmer and forester in Gyhum-Bockel. Later he was also a member of the supervisory board of Landbell AG and chairman of the board of the Concordia insurance group. Today he is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of InCity Immobilien AG . Since the summer of 1968 von Hammerstein was married to Lily Countess von der Schulenburg from the Lodersleben house (1937–2015). The marriage had three children.

Hammerstein joined the CDU in 1975 and was a co-opted member of the CDU district associations Osterholz and Verden as well as the CDU district association Stade. From April 9, 1984 to 1987, and then again from 1990, he was a member of the German Bundestag until he finally resigned from parliament in 2002.
