Carl Alexis Weller

Carl Alexis Weller , modernized Karl August Weller , (born June 22, 1828 in Dresden ; † April 14, 1898 ibid) was a German physician and author.

Live and act

He was the son of Carl Heinrich Weller, who had a doctorate in ophthalmology in Dresden, and attended the Kreuzschule there . From 1847 to 1850 Carl Alexis Weller studied at the University of Leipzig , in 1851 he moved to the University of Bonn and from 1852 to 1854 he studied in Zurich, where he wrote his doctoral thesis in 1854 on the topic of contributions to the statistics of lung diseases, along with notes from the medical clinic did his doctorate in Zurich . He then returned to his hometown Dresden, where he then worked as a practicing ophthalmologist.

He produced several medical publications, a beach traveler paperback and an album of contemporary poetry . He was tried for a violation of the press law and a prison sentence of several months was imposed, which he had to serve at Hubertusburg Castle in Wermsdorf .

In 1850 there were temporarily three issues of the German Sunday papers published . He also wrote for Die Fliegende Blätter and Der Leuchtturm .
