Carl Andreas Fehlmann (born December 7, 1829 in Thun ; † March 7, 1908 in Muri AG ) was a Swiss teacher and landscape painter and draftsman .

Life

Carl Andreas Fehlmann received his first instruction in the institute in Thun, which was founded by his father, a teacher. In 1836 his family moved from Thun to Nyon , where his father was appointed to teach mathematics and the German language.

In 1840 Fehlmann entered the Collège - École Moyenne in Nyon . From 1847 to 1850 he attended the Wettingen teacher training college , which was under the direction of Augustin Keller . He then worked as a teacher in Safenwil for two years . From July 2, 1852, Fehlmann studied painting at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich .

After his father's death in 1854, he moved to Lenzburg , where he taught French, writing, gymnastics and drawing at the local district school. For some time he held the post of rector. For the cultural society in Aargau he created a watercolor cycle on the history of the city of Lenzburg.

In 1857 he married Anna Elisabeth Hünerwadel, who died in 1866. In view of his steadily deteriorating health, Fehlmann came to the nursing home in Muri Monastery in 1905 , where he died three years later.
