Carl August Abmeyer

Carl August Abmeyer (born January 20, 1797 in Marienberg , † March 20, 1875 in Grimma ) was a German cantor and composer.

Life

Carl August Abmeyer was initially a private tutor in Pomßen . In 1817 he became Quartus (fourth degree teacher). In 1818 he was promoted to third degree teacher at the boys' school in Grimma. In the same year he became cantor at the city church and held this position until 1860. 1836 he was a two- and three-part collection of songs for primary schools out .

  • Collection of two and three-part chants for elementary schools: containing 125 songs and 16 canons: in two sections , for two- and three-part children's choir (SA and SAT) a capella, published in 1836 by JM Gebhardt in Grimma OCLC 17713611 It was one of the first collections which contained the carol Silent Night, Holy Night .
