Carl Baumgartel

Carl Baumgärtel , also Karl Baumgärtel (born August 23, 1884 in Zeulenroda , † January 26, 1952 in Plauen ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( DVP ).

Life

Baumgärtel was born as the son of the factory owner Maximilian Baumgärtel. After graduating from high school, he graduated from the commercial college . This was followed by commercial training in Switzerland, France, Italy and the USA. After the death of his father in 1905, Baumgärtel took over the management of the Julius Römpler rubber textile factory in Zeulenroda. The company expanded and was renamed a stock corporation in 1911 . Baumgärtel became general director and board member. After the First World War , Julius Römpler developed into one of the leading manufacturers of rubber knitwear worldwide. In the 1930s, the company was Europe's largest manufacturer of knitted fabrics and made-up knitted goods . In 1953 the company was expropriated.

During the First World War, Baumgärtel was an officer in 1918 as head of various war economic offices in Germany. He became a member of the German People's Party and took on functions in various associations. Among other things, he was 2nd chairman of the Association of Central German Industry in Weimar, member of the board of the Reichsverband der Deutschen Industrie and the Federation of German Employers' Associations , board member of the Low German Textile Cooperative, member of the advisory board of the branch of the Foreign Office for Foreign Trade in Leipzig and member of the Chamber of Commerce in Gera.

From April 22, 1931 to August 25, 1932, Baumgärtel was a voluntary member of the government of the Thuringian state government under the direction of Erwin Baum as a state councilor for Reuss, succeeding the resigned Erich Port .

Baumgärtel joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1937 (membership number 5 484 193).
