Life

Busch spent his youth in Hanau . After general training in an art school , he trained as a glass painter and perfected himself as one of the most successful German representatives of this art. On October 20, 1919, he married his wife Philippine, née Höhle in Offenbach. He came to Berlin at a young age and devoted himself to glass painting here and beyond in Brandenburg , Pomerania and other German countries.

In Berlin and the surrounding area there are only a few churches from the first half of the 20th century that were not decorated with glass windows by Busch, such as St. Mary's, Corpus Christi Church and Michael Church in Berlin . He is also represented in secular buildings , for example in the town hall of Zehlendorf , in the town hall of Prenzlau , whose windows he decorated with the coats of arms of the mayors and families. Despite the large number of his works, these never became mass-produced.

“He knew how to achieve solemn monumentality, the foremost goal of stained glass, with the right use ... of glass and lead and with the use of the mysterious play of light” (Z. in obituary 1948). He also developed considerable skills as a draftsman in the heraldic field. He designed large numbers of family and municipal coats of arms. His own home, which was destroyed in the war , was a small local museum. He was involved in various cultural and historical associations. He was also a member of the Herald from February 1, 1921 until his death .
