Carl Damm (born February 20, 1927 in Koblenz , † December 8, 1993 in Hamburg ) was a German educator and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Damm had to interrupt his school attendance at the end of 1944 because he was drafted into the armed forces. He then took part as a soldier in the Second World War, during which he was wounded. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets , from which he was released in spring 1946.

After his release from captivity, Damm made up his Abitur. He then started studying pedagogy, philosophy and history at the University of Hamburg , which he completed with both teacher exams. In 1949 he entered the primary school service as a teacher, was promoted to teaching council in 1956 and was rector of the Catholic School in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg from 1959 . He was also a reserve officer in the Air Force (Major d. R.) from 1966 .

Political party

Damm joined the CDU after 1945 and was deputy state chairman of the CDU Hamburg from 1968 to 1974.

MP

Damm belonged to the Hamburg parliament from 1953 to 1966 and was here in the third electoral period (1953–1957) a member of the Hamburg block parliamentary group . In the 1965 Bundestag election he was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he was a member until 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the Hamburg state list.
