Hans Daniels
Hans Daniels (born December 11, 1934 in Düsseldorf ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
Hans Daniels is the son of the former Mayor of Bonn Wilhelm Daniels (1903–1977) and his wife, the economist Hedwig Daniels, daughter of the lawyer Karl Mosler and sister of the international lawyer Hermann Mosler .
After graduating from high school in 1952, Hans Daniels studied mathematics , law and economics in Bonn , Munich and Geneva . During his studies he joined student corporations of the KV , in Bonn the Flamberg and in Munich the K.St.V. Albertia Munich. He put 1955, the first legal state examination, doctorate 1957 to the Dr. rer. pole. and finished his studies in 1959 with the second state examination in law. From 1960 to 1962 he worked as a notary assessor and then as a notary in Bonn.
Political party
Daniels joined the CDU in 1955 . In 1957/58 he was chairman of the Junge Union in Bonn and since 1971 a member of the state executive committee of the CDU Rhineland .
MP
Daniels was a councilor for the city of Bonn from 1961 to 1999, where he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1974/75. From July 26, 1970 to March 30, 1983 he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament and from 1980 to 1983 chaired the committee for local politics.
He was a member of the German Bundestag from March 29, 1983 to December 20, 1990. In parliament he represented the constituency of Bonn .
Public offices
Daniels served as Lord Mayor of Bonn from 1975 to 1994 . In addition, he was deputy president of the German Association of Cities from 1989 to 1994 . In 1994 he had to cede the mayor's office to Bärbel Dieckmann ( SPD ) after the CDU's election defeat . After 1999 he got involved in the city for cultural affairs.

He is a member of the Ludwig Erhard Foundation .
Government move
During his tenure as Lord Mayor, the decision of the German Bundestag was made on June 20, 1991 to move its seat and the seat of the federal government to Berlin as a result of German reunification .
Daniels, who in June 1989, on the occasion of Mikhail Gorbachev's visit to Bonn, admitted that Bonn would only take on a deputy position for Berlin and would of course move to Berlin in the event of reunification, parliament and government would move to Berlin both vigorously and unsuccessfully. He had literally explained to Gorbachev: "We Bonners in particular are always aware of the fact that our city (...) only performs the task of the capital on behalf of Berlin until the point in time when the reunification of Germany is possible."
