Peter Kraemer

Peter Kraemer (born October 28, 1901 in Bonn ; † September 6, 1990 in Bonn-Beuel ) was a German politician ( FDP , later CDU ). From 1969 to 1975 he was Lord Mayor of Bonn.

Kraemer attended the Beethoven high school in his hometown and after graduating from high school, studied economics in Cologne. As a general agent for a ceramics company in Saarland, he then went to Spain for 16 years, then to America, North Africa and the Middle East. Between 1941 and 1944 he was director of the company in Luxembourg and Dresden. After the war he worked in the insurance industry.

From 1946 to 1956 he was a member of the industrial advisory board in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chairman of the industrial interest group. In 1952 he was elected to the city council and mayor. He was particularly active in the areas of housing construction, transport and economic policy. In the early 1960s he switched from the FDP to the CDU. After the local reorganization in 1969, the experienced local politician took over the office of Lord Mayor of the greatly enlarged city of Bonn. After leaving office, he was made an honorary citizen of his hometown on July 9, 1975 . Kraemer found his final resting place in the old cemetery in Bonn.
