Peter Maria Busen (born June 6, 1904 in Cologne , †  November 7, 1967 in Bonn ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1949 to 1967 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and was also Lord Mayor of Bonn from 1951 to 1956 .

Life

After elementary school, Busen did further training in various courses and trained in a law firm. From 1919 he was union and politically active, from 1924 to 1933 also full-time. After 1933 he worked in various positions, so he was private secretary on behalf of the episcopal main office until the Gestapo closed it in 1938. With various journalistic activities for newspapers and magazines in the Catholic social field, he kept himself afloat in the last years of the Second World War. He belonged to the resistance group around Kaiser-Leuschner. From 1943 to 1945 he was a member of the Wehrmacht and was taken prisoner after the war.

In 1945 he was released from captivity and soon joined the CDU, for which he was district chairman in Bonn from 1950 to 1954. From 1946 he was a city councilor and from 1946 to 1951 mayor of Bonn. From 1951 to November 1956 he was Lord Mayor of Bonn. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Press, of the Broadcasting and Administrative Council of the WDR. Busen moved up to this parliament during the first electoral term of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and was directly elected in the subsequent state elections in constituency 021 Bonn-Stadt. Busen was then elected each time in constituency 021 until the election for the sixth electoral term and belonged to the state parliament from February 6, 1949 until his death on November 7, 1967.
