Peter Joseph Eilender (born April 27, 1767 in Bonn , † November 8, 1831 in Bonn) was a lawyer and, in 1816, acting Lord Mayor of Bonn.

Eilender attended the Maximilian grammar school in his hometown until 1783 and also studied there at the university.

In 1793 he worked as a protocolist for the electoral government in Bonn without pay . After the French occupation, he was taken over and in 1795 was a member of the administration of the Bonn arrondissement . A year later he acted as administrator of the canton Andernach . In 1797 he was secretary of the restored state government of the Electorate of Cologne and again a year later he was president of the municipal administration of the city of Bonn. He held this office for two years before moving to the central administration of the Rhin et Moselle department in 1800. Then he moved back to Bonn, where he was councilor in 1801 and finally, in 1814, mayor's deputy.

He survived the renewed change of rule unimpaired. Under the Prussian government, he headed the city administration as provisional mayor in 1816/17. Due to the times of need, he received no salary. Since he was denied a second councilor, he asked to be dismissed from the service. He initially remained a member of the city council.

In addition to public offices, Eilender had been active as a notary since 1798 and held a number of honorary positions: Church councilor of the main parish church of St. Martin (1808), member of the poor administration (1812), member of the legal examination commission (1813), member of the school commission (1814) and Vigilante Captain (1815). As such, he attended the homage ceremony for Friedrich Wilhelm III. part, which was organized as a music festival. He was very musical and also chairman of the Bonn Musical Society (1820).

Hurried died as a result of nervous fever. He was married to the daughter of Charles Dupuis from Luneville, who had entered service as an officer in Cologne, and had five children with her.
