Wilhelm Daniels (born July 4, 1903 in Düsseldorf , † May 4, 1977 in Bonn ) was a German lawyer and local politician ( CDU ).

Career

Daniels was born the son of a merchant. From 1922 to 1926 he studied law in Freiburg i. Br. , Berlin and Bonn and graduated with a doctorate in 1928. He initially worked as a court assessor, from 1937 as a notary.

In 1952 he was elected to the city council of Bonn. From 1956 to 1969 he was Lord Mayor of Bonn .

For the 1969 federal election he wanted to run as a CDU candidate in the Bonn constituency , which until then had always been won by Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer . In the internal CDU vote, however, he was defeated by his rival Alo Hauser . Daniels then ran as a single applicant , achieving 20.1% of the vote, while Hauser won the constituency with 37.9%.

Wilhelm Daniels was married to the economist Hedwig Daniels , daughter of the lawyer Karl Mosler and sister of the international lawyer Hermann Mosler . Her son Hans Daniels (* 1934) was also Lord Mayor of Bonn from 1975 to 1994 and twice won the Bonn constituency in federal elections.

He was a member of the Catholic student associations KStV Flamberg Bonn , KStV Askania Berlin , KStV Brisgovia Freiburg and KStV Arminia Bonn .
