Johann Martin Joseph Windeck (born August 26, 1765 in Bonn ; † December 21, 1839 there ) was a lawyer and Lord Mayor of Bonn from 1817 to 1839 .

Between 1786 and 1791 Windeck studied law at the first university in Bonn. Since 1798 president of the domain administration and 1803 member of the commission for the acquisition of domains, Windeck worked from 1800 in Bonn as a notary under the electoral Cologne and the French government and in 1815 he became an alderman of the city. In 1814, as stage director, he obtained the contributions required by a Russian general. In the same year he was first mentioned as a municipal councilor. After Count Belderbusch was promoted to district administrator in 1816, the post of Lord Mayor was temporarily occupied by district notary Eilender for a year . In 1817 Caspar Oppenhoff was unanimously elected mayor by the Bonn city council. The Prussian government, however, did not follow this recommendation and installed Windeck, who directed the fortunes of the city until 1839. During his tenure, the demolition work on the Cologne and Sterntor took place in favor of new buildings. The new market regulation of the city of Bonn from 1826, which he designed, provided for permanent places for the providers. The first meeting of the "Association for the Establishment of the Railway from Bonn to Cologne " also took place during his time . Windeck did not live to see the king's approval for the construction of the railway. He failed to succeed in his efforts to set up a regional court in Bonn (opened in 1850).

His grave is in the old cemetery in Bonn.

Since 1908 the street between Münsterplatz and Bottlerplatz has been named "Windeckstraße" in his honor.
