Carl Friedrich Ludwig von Gontard (* thirtieth July 1764 in Bayreuth , † 1. March 1839 in Berlin ) was a lieutenant colonel , a place Major of Berlin. He served under three kings in the Prussian army for a total of 59 years . Carl Friedrich Ludwig von Gontard is the son of the German architect Carl von Gontard .

Live and act

Gontard, accepted into the Prussian army under Frederick the Great in 1779, was ranked major in Berlin. Gontard Friedrich II and his successors Friedrich Wilhelm II and Friedrich Wilhelm III served as such . 35 years. After the French army under Napoléon Bonaparte had taken Berlin in 1806 , Gontard took care of the city's welfare. In gratitude, the city granted him honorary citizenship of Berlin on the fiftieth anniversary of his entry into the army. Gontard later joined the Freemasons and became a lodge as a master of the chair chairman.

He was married to Friederike Leopoldine von Troschke (* June 22, 1780, † August 26, 1809).

He is buried in the old garrison cemetery in Berlin-Mitte. His grave is dedicated to the city of Berlin as an honorary grave .
