Carl Gottlieb Thiele
Carl Gottlieb Thiele (born September 7, 1741 in Meißen ; † January 7, 1811 there ) was a German porcelain painter .
Life
Carl Gottlieb Thiele was the son of the porcelain painter Carl Christoph Thiele . Like his father, he worked at the Meißner Porcelain Manufactory , where he had been employed as a flower and plant painter since 1758. His botanical views in watercolors meant that he was temporarily employed by the Saxon Elector in Pillnitz as an assistant to the "botanical court painter" Jacob Friedrich .
His son Carl Heinrich Thiele (* around 1780 in Meißen) especially painted flower pieces in watercolor and drew historical scenes in ink or sepia.
