Carl Hans Schrader-Velgen
Carl Hans Schrader-Velgen (born March 8, 1876 in Hanover ; † January 21, 1945 there ) was a German painter.
Life
Schrader-Velgen studied from April 27, 1897 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Paul Hoecker and Ludwig von Herterich .
After graduating, he freed himself from academism. Schrader-Velgen painted nudes, landscapes and still lifes. He became a member of the Munich Secession .
At the International Art Exhibition in 1913 he was awarded a gold medal.
Schrader-Velgen was considered an impressionist. His works show influences from Lovis Corinth as well as from the painters of the “ Scholle ” association.
He founded a painting class in Munich and visited the Haimhausen artists' colony with his students during the summer months . His students included Thea Hucke , Willy Wenz and Wisa von Westphalen .
