Carl Helbling (economist)

Carl Helbling (born April 7, 1932 in Rapperswil SG , Switzerland ; † May 14, 2016 in Küsnacht ) was a Swiss economist and auditor .

Life

While studying at the University of St.Gallen (now the University of St.Gallen), he obtained his lic. oec. and in 1960 the Dr. oec. In 1973 he received his habilitation in business administration from the University of Zurich (supervised by Karl Käfer ) . From 1992 to 2000 he was an associate professor for auditing and fiduciary services at the University of Zurich.

From 1957 he was with Switzerland. Trust company in Zurich. In 1962 he became a dipl. Book expert (today certified auditor). From 1977 he was a member of the management team at Switzerland. Treuhandgesellschaft, 1991–97 Chairman of the Management Board of STG-Coopers & Lybrand. He was a member of various boards of directors and foundation boards, including 1994–2003 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Switzerland. Trust company and 1998–2001 chairman of the advisory board of the merged PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He has written numerous publications in the areas of auditing, company valuation, balance sheet analysis and employee benefits as well as a family history.
