Carl Lewald , also Karl Lewald (born April 14, 1843 in Heidelberg ; † May 15, 1924 ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Carl Lewald was born as the son of the Protestant theology professor Ernst Anton Lewald in Heidelberg . He studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg in 1862 . After graduating as Dr. jur. he became a lawyer in Baden. With the justification of the Reichsgericht on October 1, 1879 to February 2, 1910, Lewald was admitted to the bar at the Reichsgericht in Leipzig .

He was married to Henriette Köster (1854–1924). His son, the university professor Hans Lewald (1883–1963) emigrated to Switzerland in 1935. Carl Lewald was buried in the family grave in the mountain cemetery in Heidelberg. The Baden lawyer and politician Ferdinand Lewald was his brother.
