Carl Maria von Weber (often just Carl von Weber , actually Carl Maria Alexander Eduard von Weber , born November 19, 1849 in Dresden , Kingdom of Saxony , † December 15, 1897 ibid) was a Saxon captain who was also a writer . He was the son of the Saxon railway director and writer Max Maria von Weber (1822–1881) and grandson of the composer Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826).

In 1877 he married Marion Mathilde Schwabe (* March 25, 1856, † April 10, 1931). Under the pseudonym Carl Marius he wrote a five-act tragedy, Die von Hutten , which was staged by Ernst Gettke in Leipzig in April 1886 . In August 1886 von Weber asked Gustav Mahler , then Kapellmeister at the Leipzig Theater, to complete an unfinished opera ( The Three Pintos ) by Carl Maria von Weber. Von Weber had supplemented and revised the text by Theodor Hell , which was only partially preserved . Mahler completed the work, which was premiered on January 20, 1888 in Leipzig.
