Carl Philipp zu Innhausen and Knyphausen (born March 5, 1711 in Lütetsburg ; † September 7, 1784 ibid) was an East Frisian nobleman . In 1728 he took over the rule of Lütetsburg Castle .

origin

His parents were Franz Ferdinand von Inn- and Knyphausen († August 30, 1725 in Lütetsburg) president of the East Frisian knighthood and Sophie Luise von Tettau (* August 28, 1688; † February 20, 1725 in Lütetsburg) daughter of Johann Georg von Tettau . His younger brother was Wilhelm Reichsfreiherr zu Inn- and Knyphausen .

Life

After the early death of his father, his mother married the Dorsten of the glories Dornum and Petkum Haro Joachim von Closter († 1728). He was initially under the tutelage of his stepfather and his uncle of the Prussian minister Friedrich Ernst zu Innhausen and Knyphausen († 1731). So he was able to study in Frankfurt an der Oder, and make a cavalier tour through the German states, Vienna and Hungary. However, he was recalled due to the conflict between the East Frisian estates and the Princely House. So he had to take over the management of his now neglected property. He married and was President of the East Frisian Landscape from 1742 to 1744 .

He was able to buy the Lütetsburger Fideikommiss and subsequently also had the castle in Lütetsburg rebuilt. In addition, tried to get the lost claims of his family back, which mostly failed.

At the end of his life he was able to publish a detailed history of his family.

His wife was Sophie Charlotte von Wedel-Jarlsberg (* September 28, 1708; † December 6, 1765) daughter of Erhard Friedrich von Wedel-Jarlsberg (* November 20, 1668; † July 24, 1740) and Maria Juliane von Frydag (* February 16, 1684 - October 2, 1727). The couple had the following children:
