Erdeven ( Breton: An Ardeven ) is a commune with 3666 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Morbihan department in the region of Brittany .
geography
The municipality borders in the northwest on the municipality of Étel , in the north on Belz and Locoal-Mendon , in the east on Ploemel and Carnac , in the southeast on Plouharnel and in the southwest on the Atlantic coast and the mouth of the river Étel .
Culture and sights
Today Erdeven is mainly a tourist village. The town's attractions are a seven-kilometer-long sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean near the Kerhillio district (plage de Kerhillio) , as well as numerous prehistoric sites of the megalithic culture with dolmens , menhirs and alignments (e.g. Alignments by Kerzerho). The rows of stones in the municipality of Erdeven form the western branch of the huge Carnac complex .

Erdeven is on the D781, which connects the coastal towns from Port-Louis in the northwest to Locmariaquer in the southeast.
The nearest long-distance train station is in Auray and the nearest airport is Lorient Bretagne Sud . There are bus connections (Monday to Saturday) to Auray, Carnac - La Trinité-sur-Mer , Lorient and Port-Louis.
The La Trinité – Étel tram ran through the town until 1935 .
