history

From prehistoric times there are several dolmens in the municipality ( Dolmen du Moulin des Oies , Dolmen von Kerhuen , Dolmen von Kerlutu , Dolmen von Kerguéran, Dolmen Mané Rhun and Kergallan) and menhirs .

Legend has it that Saint Cadoc , who came from Wales, settled on the Île de Saint Cado in the 6th century AD and founded a hermitage there. The monks of Quimperlé inherited these in 1089 and expanded them into a priory, which developed into an important pilgrimage center. The current chapel is dated to the 11th to 12th centuries.
