Larmor-Plage (on Breton At Avor is) a French municipality with 8299 inhabitants (1 January 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lorient , the canton of Ploemeur and is a member of the Lorient Agglomération municipal association . The inhabitants of the community are called Larmorien (ne) .
geography
Larmor-Plage lies at the opening of the Blavet to the Atlantic Ocean . The Lorient roadstead is partly located here. Larmor-Plage is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ploemeur in the west and northwest, Lorient in the north and on the opposite - eastern - side of the Strait of Port-Louis and Gâvres . In the south lies the Île de Groix in the Atlantic Ocean .

history
Larmor-Plage was formed in 1924 from the locality of Larmor and marked with the suffix Plage to differentiate it from the municipality of Larmor-Baden , which was also formed in 1924. The municipality used to belong to Ploemeur.
