Robert Hennequin (born March 21, 1920 in Bondy , † February 13, 2002 in Lorient ) was a French football player and coach .

Player career

The 177 centimeter tall Hennequin began playing football in the region around the French capital Paris , where he played for the amateur club Stade de l'Est from 1936 . From there he moved to Stade Rennes in 1941 and thus during the Second World War , for which he made his debut on September 14, 1941 in a 4-0 win against FC Rouen in the top division of the country, which was unofficially held due to the war. At first he was seeded in midfield , but then established himself in defense . The "Bibiche" called footballer stayed through the war years over regular players and had to leave the first division for the 1943/44 season with Rennes due to a resolution of the Vichy regime . Nevertheless, he remained loyal to the club, managed to return to the first class in 1944 and made his official debut in the French elite class after the resumption of regular play in 1945.

In the post-war years, Hennequin was still an integral part of the team and achieved mediocre results both in the league and in the cup, never a title or a second place jumped out and he also had to do without a call to the national team. Internally it was undisputed until he ended his professional career in 1951 at the age of 31 after 185 official first division games with five goals and 48 unofficial first division games with one goal. He moved to the amateur club FC Lorient , for which he worked as a player-coach in the 1951/52 season.

Coaching career

After his year in Lorient, Hennequin finally stopped playing and devoted himself to his coaching career, which he continued at a club from Hennebont from 1952 to 1958. He then took over the team of a club from Larmor-Plage and looked after it from 1958 to 1970 and again from 1975 to 1976.
