Le Palais ( Breton Porzh-Lae ) is a French municipality with 2571 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany and the capital of the largest French Atlantic island Belle-Ile .
history
Henry II . built a citadel in Le Palais in 1572 . This served as a prison and barracks until 1961. Today it is used as a museum.
