Carl Radkau

Carl Ernst Albert Radkau , actually Meyer (born September 4, 1855 in Wolfenbüttel , † June 14, 1934 ) was a German administrative lawyer and Brunswick Minister of Finance .

Radkau was a son of the Brunswick State Minister Eduard Meyer and his wife Magdalene Christiane Ernestine, née Vielhaack. With a rescript of June 11, 1890, he (again) adopted the name Radkau .

In 1889 he married Marie Suter, a daughter of the Swiss Colonel Rudolf Suter from Zofingen and Marie, née Recka.

Life

Carl Meyer (from 1890 Radkau) attended grammar school in Braunschweig, where he passed the school leaving examination in 1874, and then studied law at the University of Tübingen . Here he became a member of the Corps Suevia in 1876 . After completing his studies he became an auditor in 1877, trainee lawyer in 1880 and assessor in 1881. In 1883 he entered the administrative career and became a member of the government in 1888 and a finance officer in 1896. From 1900 he was President of the Administrative Court in Braunschweig. In 1911 he was appointed Finance Minister of the Duchy of Braunschweig and in this capacity was awarded the Order of Henry the Lion, 1st class in 1915 .

He died in 1934 and found his final resting place in the Magnifriedhof in Braunschweig.
