Carl Reinhertz

Carl Johann Conrad Reinhertz , also Karl Reinhertz, (born June 19, 1859 in Xanten , † August 22, 1906 in Hanover ) was a German geodesist .

Life

Reinhertz studied geodesy at RWTH Aachen University , among others with Friedrich Robert Helmert . During his studies he joined the Corps Rhenania . In 1882 he passed the surveyor examination with the government in Arnsberg. In 1883 he became assistant to Otto Koll , professor of geodesy at the University of Bonn . In 1887 he received his doctorate in Marburg, in 1888 he became a private lecturer in geodesy and from 1892 he taught surveying at the agricultural school in Poppelsdorf in what is now Bonn. In 1894 he became professor of geodesy in Bonn next to Koll and from 1899 as successor of Wilhelm Jordan after his death professor of geodesy at the TH Hannover . He continued the handbook of surveying by Jordan, wrote the article Low Geodesy in the Encyclopedia of Mathematical Sciences and the volume Geodesy in the Göschen series (1899). In 1895 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
