Carl Richard Hennicke

Carl Richard Hennicke (born December 26, 1865 in Chemnitz , † August 27, 1941 in Gera ) was a German doctor , publicist and ornithologist .

Life

Carl Richard Hennicke moved with his parents from Chemnitz to Gera in 1873 when he was a child. He was educated by the ornithologist and geologist Karl Theodor Liebe . He attended high school in Gera and studied medicine and natural sciences at the University of Leipzig from 1886 . In 1891 he received his doctorate in Leipzig and was an assistant at the eye and ear clinic. He traveled to Sweden, Norway, Svalbard, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and West Africa. From 1894 he worked in Gera as a doctor for eye and ear diseases. In 1895 he succeeded Karl Theodor Liebe and was appointed professor in 1912. As an ornithologist and conservationist he was a. a. Editor of the ornithological monthly and chairman of the "German Association for the Protection of the Bird World e. V. ". Carl Richard Hennicke was born with Mathilde Heffter married and had two daughters. In 1903 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
