Carl Rieseberg

Carl Wilhelm August Rieseberg (born December 1, 1869 in Oschersleben , † December 8, 1950 in Quedlinburg ) was a German politician (DNVP).

Live and act

In his youth Rieseberg attended the village schools in Uchtdorf (1874–75), Neustadt-Magdeburg (1875–77), Magdeburg (1877–78) and the community school in Oschersleben (1878–81) as well as the seminar school in Halberstadt (1881–84 ). From 1884 to 1887 he completed a three-year apprenticeship as a baker there. He passed the master craftsman examination in 1893 after several years of professional activity. Before that he had belonged to the infantry regiment "Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia" (2nd Magdeburgisches) No. 27 .

From January 1907 to January 1912, Rieseberg was a member of the German Reichstag for the Mittelstandsvereinigung - whose board he was also a member - in which he represented the constituency Magdeburg 6 (Wanzleben). After the end of the First World War he became a member of the German National People's Party (DNVP). From June 1920 to September 1930 he sat for them in the first four Reichstag of the Weimar Republic , in which he represented constituency 11 (Magdeburg). According to the Reichstag handbook, at that time he had settled down as a master baker in Quedlinburg.

Socially, Rieseberg also distinguished himself as a co-founder of the Reich Protection Association for Trade and Crafts and the Association of Bakers and Confectioners in Germany - of which he became an honorary member at an advanced age - as well as deputy chairman of the Central Association of German Bakers' Guilds. For his achievements, he was awarded the Cross of Merit II.

In 1931 and 1950/1951 Rieseberg can be traced back to Steinweg 51, the birthplace of Dorothea Erxleben , who is the first female doctor in Germany , in Quedlinburg.
