Carl Rudolf Bernadotte Nordenstam

Carl Rudolf Bernadotte Nordenstam (born April 26, 1863 in Örebro , Sweden , † August 30, 1942 in Oslo ) was a Swedish-Norwegian magician.

Life

Carl Rudolf Bernadotte Nordenstam was a son of the Swedish King Karl XV. (1826–1872) and a woman with the surname Nordenstam , probably Olga Nordenstams (1844–1870). Initially baptized Carl Rudolf Nordenstam , he was later allowed to use the royal name Bernadotte after his uncle Oscar II had agreed to this. He has been fascinated by the art of magic since visiting his father at the royal palace in Stockholm , where he was allowed to watch a ballet master who could make a coin disappear. After Nordenstam had studied theology and medicine, he emigrated to Norway in 1904. From 1929 he was a member of the magical circle of Norway, in 1938 he gave his farewell performance.

Nordenstam used to combine manipulation and oratory. At the end of his program, he produced a large flag.

Carl Rudolf Bernadotte Nordenstam was considered the greatest magician of his time in Norway. He also performed in other European countries, including before the German Kaiser. His sons Eyvind (1913–1983) and Fridtjov (1909–1976) continued their father's magic tradition.

In the Norwegian Museum of Magic, Bernadotte Nordenstam is remembered.
