Carl Seidl
Carl Seidl (born March 13, 1858 in Mährisch-Schönberg , today Šumperk , Moravia ; † June 10, 1936 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect who worked primarily on the Liburnian Riviera in the vicinity of Opatija / Abbazia.
Seidl was the son of a factory owner. He studied at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich with Johanns Schen and Gottfried Kinkel and at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Theophil Hansen . Seidl successfully took part in competitions, for example he received an honorable mention for his design for the Romanian parliament. Early on he specialized in the construction of villas in the region around Abbazia, which was opened up by the Austrian Southern Railway Company in the 1880s, where his memory is still held in high esteem today.
Seidl was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . He received numerous awards and honors, including the small gold state medal for his Villa Frappart near Lovran . Other well-known buildings in the region are Villa Ransonnet and Villa Biedermann.
