Carl Stein (diplomat)

Carl Stein (born July 11, 1908 in Trier ; † 2003 ) was a German diplomat who was ambassador to Ghana between 1958 and 1961 .

Life

Stein completed a degree in law and political science and after completing his preparatory service for the senior foreign service worked at various missions abroad and at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn . Stein became a member of the NSDAP on December 1, 1935 .

After the resumption of diplomatic relations with Switzerland , he became head of the Consulate General in Zurich in 1951 with the rank of Consul First Class and remained in this post until he was replaced by Walter Zimmermann in 1953.

In the following years, Stein found other uses and was most recently Legation Counselor, First Class in the Foreign Office, before he was appointed Ambassador to Ghana on May 17, 1958, succeeding Hermann Saam . He remained in this post until 1961 and was then replaced by Carl-Heinz Lüders .
