Carl Wenzel Zajicek (born February 29, 1860 in Vienna ; † March 19, 1923 there ) was an Austrian master of watercolor painting .

Life

Carl Wenzel Zajicek was born in 1860 as the eldest son of twenty-four children of the master watchmaker Franz Zajicek . In accordance with his father's wishes, he learned the trade of watchmaker, which he carried out until 1900. He recognized his love for painting at an early age and took lessons in architecture and painting from Ludwig Krenn at a young age, but it would take several years before he could devote himself exclusively to painting.

Later he regularly visited the Art History Museum and the Albertina , where Zajicek studied the watercolor art of the great masters. Zajicek specialized in Viennese vedute , his breakthrough as a painter he achieved with a circular panorama of Vienna from 1896 (after Emil Hütter ).

In 1923, at the height of his creativity, Zajicek died in Vienna.
