Carl Wilhelm Ludwig Westphal

Carl Wilhelm Ludwig Westphal (born March 1, 1824 in Hamburg ; † September 26, 1900 there ) was a German businessman and member of parliament.

Life

Westphal joined the company GWA Westphal Sohn & Co. founded by his grandfather in 1840 as an apprentice . The company, which has existed since 1796, dealt with tea import and trade. In 1850 Westphal became a co-owner of the company, married Alwina Mathilde née Schlueter (1830–1910) and acquired Hamburg citizenship. In addition to his commercial activities, he worked in various institutions in the church and municipal administration of Hamburg in the following years. From 1857 to 1859 he was a lieutenant colonel in the Hamburg citizen military and adjunct in the general staff.

Westphal belonged to the Hamburg citizenship from 1860 to 1862, from 1863 to 1867, from 1871 to 1872 and from 1874 to 1900.

Westphal had several children, including Antonie Traun , Otto Eduard Westphal , Eduard Wilhelm Westphal and Emmi Alwine (1858–1928), who married Hermann Blohm in 1880 .
