Carl Wilhelm Rosenkrantz (born June 1 . Jul / 13. June  1876 greg. In Liepaja , † 1942 in Riga ) was a Baltic chess players .

At the 1st Congress of the Baltic Chess Federation in Riga in 1899 he was second behind Robert Behting with 7½ out of 11 after losing a playoff, even ahead of Carl Behting. 1899–1900 in Berlin he was sixth (winner: Curt von Bardeleben ). At the Congress of the German Chess Federation in Munich in 1900 he was 8th – 9th. in main tournament A (winner: Rudolf Swiderski ). 1901 in Moscow in the 2nd Russian championship he was 11th (winner: Mikhail Chigorin ). At the 2nd Congress of the Baltic Chess Federation in Dorpat in 1901 , he shared 1st place with Carl Behting, Wilhelm von Stamm and W. Sohn. At the 4th Congress of the Baltic Chess Federation in Riga in 1907, he won after a playoff against S. Lurie.

Before the First World War he played frequently in Saint Petersburg . In 1894 he was 2nd – 3rd. (Winner: Eugène Znosko-Borovsky ) and 9. – 11. (Winner: Tschigorin), in 1905 he finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th, was 8th – 10th. in the 4th Russian Championship 1905–1906 (winner: Hersz Salwe ), shared 1st place with Sergej von Freymann in 1908 , was 7th – 8th in 1909. (Winner: Alexander Alekhine ), and in 1911 finally 14th (Winner: Stepan Levizki ).

After the First World War he took part in several Moscow tournaments. In 1921 he was 5th in the Moscow city championship (winner: Nikolai Grigoryev ), in 1924 again 5th (winner: Nikolai Subarew) and 14th in the Moscow city championship (winner: Alexander Sergejew), in 1926 he was 8th-9th. in the Moscow city championship (winner: Abram Rabinowitsch) and in 1928 shared 6th in the union championship (winner: Grigorjew).
