Carlo Alberto Pizzini

Carlo Alberto Pizzini (born March 22, 1905 in Rome , † September 8, 1981 in Rome ) was an Italian composer and conductor .

Life

Carlo Alberto Pizzini studied in Rome at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory with Ottorino Respighi . Even then he organized a student concert series at the “Torquato Tasso” high school and was the conductor of the “Teatro delle Fiabe” in Rome. Pizzini completed his studies in Bologna in 1929 at the Giovanni Battista Martini Conservatory with a diploma in composition. In 1931 he studied again with Respighi; he received a prize from the Ministero della pubblica istruzione as the latter's best student. Then Pizzini worked at the Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori , a collecting society roughly equivalent to the German GEMA . From 1938 to 1970 he was employed by the Italian radio , where he was responsible, among other things, for the broadcaster's international relations and supervised the auditions of the orchestras. In addition, he continued to be active as a composer and conductor. In 1942 he was accepted into the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia ; from 1973 until his death he was its vice-president. In 1967 he became a member of the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna.

Pizzini was married and had a daughter and a son.

Awards

In 1997, Via Carlo Alberto Pizzini in Rome was named after Pizzini.
