Carlo Aldini

Carlo Aldini (born May 6, 1894 in Pieve Fosciana , Lucca , † March 21, 1961 in Bologna ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Aldini came to Bologna with his parents in 1903. In his youth he was regional middleweight champion in wrestling and boxing. In 1920 he began as a film actor and became known abroad with his debut film LA 63-71-57 , an action adventure with cars. He was then in about 10 other similar action films in front of the camera, from 1921 in the character of "Ajax". With his strong physical appearance, Aldini also had success in German films from 1923. After the foolish bet of Lord Aldini (1923), he played Achilles in Manfred Noa's two-part monumental film Helena (1924) .

In 1926 he founded Aldini-Film GmbH and also became a producer of his films. The first production was Hunting People (1926). Directed by Nunzio Malasomma , Aldini plays a girl molester alongside Hans Albers . In 1928/29 he shot three German-Czechoslovak co-productions. He produced his first sound film in 1930 with Im Kampf mit der Unterwelt ; Aldini also directed and played the leading role, while comedian Siegfried Arno played a detective. Aldini had his last film appearance in 1934.

He returned to Italy eleven years later. There he successfully negotiated the handover of the German garrison in Bologna for Emilian partisans in his house in 1945.
