In 1950 Theo Nägelein founded the clothing company Nägelein oHG in Franconia . The Carlo Colucci brand was created in the late 1970s. Products with this designation have been offered by Wilhelm Nägelein since 1978. On April 30, 2009 the company stopped producing its retail collections . In January 2010 the company Fashiongate Günther Klein from Cologne took over the worldwide brand rights for clothing. The product range was expanded.
Under the licensed name of Carlo Colucci Uomo , the Mäurer & Wirtz company sold fragrance and cosmetic items in specialist shops and various drugstore chains . In 2016 the new Carlo Colucci men's fragrance was created under the name DCCLIII - The Fragrance of the Eternal City (753 BC - the year Rome was founded). In 2017, with the addition "per la Donna", the women's fragrance of the same name was created.
