Carlo Faggioni

Carlo Faggioni (born January 26, 1915 in Carrara , † April 10, 1944 at Anzio ) was a pilot of the Regia Aeronautica and Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana during World War II .

As a torpedo pilot , he operated a. a. with Carlo Emanuele Buscaglia . After the armistice of September 8, 1943 , Faggioni decided to continue the war against the Allies on the German side. He took part in the establishment of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana , the air force of the Social Republic of Italy , the fascist remnant state in northern Italy. On April 10, 1944, he was shot down while fighting the Anglo-American beachhead near Anzio . Faggioni was one of the most highly decorated Italian bomber pilots of the war.
