Carlo Forlanini
Carlo Forlanini (born June 11, 1847 in Milan , † May 26, 1918 in Nervia ) was an Italian medic.
Forlanini received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Pavia in 1870 . In 1900 he became professor of clinical medicine in Pavia.
He is considered to be the inventor of the artificial pneumothorax technique for pneuomothorax therapy (collapse therapy) of pulmonary tuberculosis .
The Carlo Forlanini Institute in Rome is named after him.
His brother is the aviation pioneer Enrico Forlanini (1848–1930).
