Carlo Franciosi

Carlo Franciosi (born April 1, 1935 in Serravalle ) is a San Marinese politician . From April 1 to October 1, 1987, he was one of the two Capitani Reggente (head of state) of San Marino .

Life

Franciosi is a general practitioner and dermatologist. He is married with two children and four grandchildren.

For many years he was the chairman of the San Marino Winter Sports Federation (Federazione Sammarinese Sport Invernali) and Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of San Marino .

He began his political career in the youth organization of the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS). He was editor of the party newspaper San Marino . For the PDCS he was elected to the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale , in 1978, 1983 and 1988 . For the period from April 1 to October 1, 1987, he was elected together with Renzo Renzi as Capitano Reggente , the head of state of San Marino.

In 1993 he was one of the founders of Alleanza Popolare (AP), for which he was elected to parliament in 1993, 1998 and 2001. From 2006 to 2009 he was Chairman (Presidente) of the AP and in the following years published the party newspaper Alleanza Informa and the follow-up publication Controluce . In the parliamentary elections in 2006 he missed a parliamentary mandate, replaced Renzo Bonelli in parliament in July 2007 , but resigned again in November. In the following two elections Franciosi no longer ran.

In the 2016 parliamentary elections, he was re-elected to the Consiglio Grande e Generale for the newly founded Repubblica Futura . He became a member of the Judiciary Committee. On October 10, 2017, he announced his resignation as an MP.
